General
Assistance
This program provides aid to
residents who meet eligibility guidelines. The recipient works
with the township supervisor to examine employment options or
training, while receiving financial assistance for food, utility
bills, rent, medical services, and transportation. The recipient
agrees to actively seek work during this period. This
month-to-month assistance program is aimed at finding suitable
employment for residents who do not qualify for traditional
welfare programs offered by the State. Medical care for
emergency or life-threatening situations may be included in this
program.
Applications are available in the Township Office.
Emergency Assistance
Residents experiencing financial hardship may apply for this
one-time assistance to pay for shelter, food, utilities, medical
services, or transportation. Applications are available in the
township office.
Other Referrals
The Township is the local arm of the Salvation Army and can
provide emergency relief funds. The Deerfield Community
Emergency Fund is also a source of help for local residents who
need immediate assistance. Contact the township supervisor,
Julie Morrison, for more information on these programs.
