Registration at the Township closes on October 7, 2008
Between October 8-October 21, the Lake County Clerk offers grace period registration at the County building in Waukegan.

Who can register to vote?
You can register to vote if you are:
 A United States Citizen
 18 years of age by November 4, 2008
 A resident of your present address for 30 days immediately prior to the election

Two forms of ID are required to register:
At least one of the two forms must show your name & current address. Only one form of identification may be a piece of mail (e.g. water bill, utility bill) that has been delivered to you. Voter registration will reopen
on November 6.

Your voter registration does not expire unless you move or change your name. Residents must re-register to vote even if you have just moved across the street.

Last Day to request an absentee ballot by mail by calling the Lake County Clerk at 847-377-2406.

 

October 31-November 3

In-person absentee voting for those who expect to be away from their precinct on November 4.

«Will you need to vote early or absentee?

 

There are four options for voting:

Early Voting (in-person) October 13-30
Any registered voter is eligible to vote during the Early Voting period

Absentee Voting (in-person) October 31- November 3
Only those residents who expect to be absent from their precinct on voting day are eligible to vote during in-person absentee voting

Absentee Voting (mail-in) Ballot request must be made by October 27
Voters who temporarily live outside their precinct may request an absentee ballot by mail by calling the Lake County Absentee Department at (847) 377-2406. This mail-in program is a convenient form of voting for college students and snowbirds.

Regular Voting November 4
Regular voting hours on Election Day are 6:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m.

«Do you know your polling place?

Your polling place is determined by your precinct number and is listed on your Voter Registration card. If you need further information on your polling place you can either call the Lake County Clerk’s office at (847)377-2314 or visit their website at www.co.lake.il.us/cntyclk.

Disabled Voter Program
The County Clerk offers a Disabled Voter Program for registered voters who are unable to go to the polling place. Enrollment forms for this program are available at the West Deerfield Township office or by mail through the County Clerk. Once the forms are complete, have been signed by a physician and returned to the County Clerk, the voter will automatically receive their application to request an absentee ballot prior to each election.

College Students and Snowbirds
The County Clerk offers a convenient program for students to automatically receive an absentee ballot at the student's university address. Enrollment forms for the Temporarily Absent Student Program may be completed at the West Deerfield Township office or through the County Clerk. A similar program is available for Snowbirds who temporarily visit outside their precinct each year.

 

Election Judges

 

If you would like to serve as an election judge, please call the County Clerk at 847.377.2408.

Election judges receive training and are compensated from $85-$105 per day. Extra election day duties pay additional fees.
